Born in 1957 in Tokyo. Graduated from the School of Education, Waseda University. Winner of many awards such as the Ehon Nippon Award with "Mr. Ruraru's Garden" (Holp Shuppan), picture book prize of the Kodansha Shuppan Bunka Award with "Daijobu Daijobu" (Kodansha), and the Robou no Ishi Yosho Bungaku Award with "Osaru no Mainichi" and "Osaru wa Osaru" (Kodansha). Main works include the sequel of the "Osaru" series, "Tsuntaasobi no Hajimari" (Kodansha). Resides in Tokyo.
